CNN has just released an article about applications that use unconventional ways for people to explore their surroundings. Dérive app was happy to add its two cents about how random urban exploration can increase peoples understanding of urban space and contribute to getter usage and leverage of that space as a result. We are happy to announce that Dérive app has been selected for the AppMyCity shortlist. This makes us one of the 10 “mobile apps can make good cities great” according to the Google and Atlantic Cities.

Over the last week we have been conducting our first all-digital workshop with Ithaca College and the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF), around creating a dérive deck for Ithaca and more specifically for some of the themes connected to the film festival this year.

We are ecstatic with the response to the call to have a world wide Dérive Day. 23 dérives totalling 43km were recorded in Brussels, Paris, New York, Kampala, Singapore, Toronto, among others.
